Uxbridge held by Harrow Town

Uxbridge had to settle for a draw at home to Harrow Town in Division Three on Saturday in their opening match of the season.

Harrow were put into bat and found it tough going early on in the hot and dry conditions. Navin Samarakoon (40) made an impression on his league debut with some aggressive batting.

The fireworks arrived late on for Town with Abid Javed hitting 86 off 68 balls as they declared on 241 for six.

Uxbridge made a confident start reaching 61 for one from their first 12 overs.

But Tyrone Theophile took three for 47 to leave Uxbridge reeling. Talib Malik also chipped in with two for 37. Chris Alder impressed in bat with 51 not out for the hosts.

In the end they were content to hold out for a draw as Uxbridge finished on 165 for seven from their 47 overs.

Harrow went home satisfied with four points against a team which were in the Premier Division only two years ago.
